What is an SBEM?
SBEM - stands for Simple Building Energy Model and is the calculation tool used to predict carbon emissions in Non Domestic Buildings. It is provided by the Government as one of the approved ways of generating Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for Non Domestic (Commercial) Buildings. It is also an approved way of demonstrating compliance with the requirements of Part F of the Building Regulations in Northern Ireland.
All Non Domestic Buildings being sold or rented are legally bound to have an Energy Performance Certificate available for inspection when placed on the open market and the sale of the property will not complete without one.
NI Energy Services have approved assessors fully trained on SBEM and accredited with Elmhurst Energy Services Ltd and are therefore able to produce Energy Performance Certificates for the commercial sector.
